Not many manufacturers pay attention to detail when it comes to creating airsoft replicas based on real weapons. A&K is a great example of a company that really does. Moreover, their M1873 Mare’s Leg is a perfect testimonial to their dedication and focus in this department. They’ve invested a great deal of fantastic craftsmanship into the making of this product – and it has certainly paid off.
First of all, don’t expect a cutting-edge weapon that will work wonders on the field where everyone is armed with modern rifle replicas. This rifle is a lever-action weapon that doesn’t offer extensive fire mode options and customizability. This is an airsoft weapon based upon the design of their historic 1873 Mare’s Leg rifle.
In this respect, A&K didn’t mess around here, either. They’ve managed to create a weapon that faithfully resembles the weight of the original rifle, at 1690g. This goes for the rifle’s 630mm size, too. The same can be said of the rifle’s single firing mode – it’s lever-action, so you won’t be able to pull off rapid auto/semi-auto fire.
With that said, the airsoft replica has quite a kick. With a muzzle velocity of 360-390 FPS, it’s on-par with some of the most popular modern-day rifle replicas. As long as your aim is solid and you know what you’re doing, you can down your opponents with a single shot.
This is the gold version of the rifle, which is identical to the other color options in performance. However, many people find the gold model to be the most attractive.
The Mare’s Leg is a gas-powered (propane or green gas) rifle, so there are no batteries involved. Although some people prefer battery-powered weapons, gas-powered models come with advantages of their own, such as not having to worry about battery depletion and diminished battery longevity.
