Works great for what it is. That's spring powered
For its very modest cost, this rifle is a fun way to get introduced to the world of airsoft guns, especially bolt action spring rifles. It looks and feels like the real thing and, out of the box, shoots decently well. It does seem to produce mid-300 fps BB speed with 0.20g BBs, but the stock hop up unit isn't the greatest with such low mass ammo. The rifle shoots much straighter with 0.30g BBs or higher. Of course, this brings the muzzle velocity down and, in turn, the range down. I would say that the effective useful maximum range is around 70 feet. For plinking/target practice, this fine. But for airsoft combat gaming, the rifle would not do well as a sniper weapon because of its relatively limited range. A big plus is the all metal construction of the receiver, bolt, trigger assembly and inner and outer barrels. In its stock setup, the rifle should hold up well under use given proper maintenance. However, should you decide to upgrade the firing mechanism to get more accuracy and muzzle velocity, be ready for a winding road. Many of the popular VSR 10 upgrades do not fit in this "VSR10" rifle. I know this because I began upgrading my first AGM MP001 (from another vendor) and had to cut and grind a lot to get a new hop up unit and stiffer cylinder spring to function. Then the increased strain on the bolt assembly from the stiffer spring blew out the bolt at the back. I then bought a second MP001 rifle from Airsoft Station to combine working parts into one functioning rifle. I used the stock spring with some spacers inside the cylinder to increase the spring compression a little, resulting in a gain of maybe 40 fps or so. My "hybrid" rifle can shoot 0.25g BBs quite straight and out to a useful range of around 150 ft. In short, if you are looking for an entry level bolt action spring airsoft rifle, the MP001 is a great choice. But if you are thinking about shooting at long range with high accuracy, you should purchase a higher end rifle that does accept true VSR 10 upgrades.
I bought this gun and put a scope on it and if you use the right BBs you will love this gun!!!
this is an excellent rifle! i've had it for about 2 weeks now and i've had no problems! it's dead accurate and really fun! don't expect the best sniper out there, but definitely a great rifle for beginner scouts.
