When your gearbox starts losing power or sounding rough, the cylinder head is often the weak link. The O-ring seat wears, the nozzle cracks, or the piston slams into material that wasn't meant to take the impact. This APS cylinder head is designed to seal the air properly and absorb that blow.

Where the compression holds. The O-ring creates a seal against the cylinder body, which is where factory heads often leak after extended use. A metal nozzle resists deformation under heat and pressure compared to plastic nozzles, helping your air seal stay consistent shot after shot. That's the difference between a gun that shoots the same velocity at the end of a game as it did at the start.

The buffer that saves your gearbox. A rubber piston buffer mat sits behind the cylinder head to absorb the piston's return stroke. Without it, metal or hard plastic hits the head directly, which can crack cheaper castings and wear out faster. This mat spreads that impact and protects both the piston teeth and the gearbox shell.

V2 compatibility. This fits standard Version 2 gearboxes, which covers M4, M16, MP5, G3, and most Western AEG platforms. It's not for V3 (AK-style), V6 (P90), or proprietary shells—check your gearbox type before you order. The body is lighter than all-metal alternatives but durable enough for regular use.

Before you install. Swapping a cylinder head means splitting the gearbox shell. If you've never done that before, don't rush it on game day. Airsoft Station recommends having internal work done by a certified technician, especially if you're also changing springs or gears. You'll need a proper set of tools and a clean workspace to keep small parts from getting lost.

This is a compression and durability upgrade, not a velocity booster. It won't turn a stock M4 into a field AEG on its own, but it will let the rest of your internals perform as intended. If your gun is already shooting soft or inconsistent, this is one of the first parts to check.
