If your AK's selector plate is cracked or the "Safe/RD/FA" markings have worn away, this is the direct replacement. The APS Polymer Version 3 selector plate fits most AK-series metal gearboxes and restores the external selector function without needing to swap the entire gearbox.

What it does. The selector plate is the visible disc on the side of a V3 gearbox that the selector lever clicks against. It's a wear item — after hundreds of cycles the markings fade, the spring detents get sloppy, or the casting itself cracks around the mounting holes. This APS version replaces the original with a polymer plate that has the same geometry and detent positions, so your existing lever and spring work without modification.

Why polymer. APS uses polymer rather than metal for this part because it's lighter and won't gall against the gearbox shell or selector lever. It's the same material APS uses in their premium AK AEGs, not a budget downgrade. The plate is designed to match the V3 AK platform's standard mounting pattern, which covers most metal V3 gearboxes on the market.

What you need to know before you buy. This is a V3 AK-specific part. It will not fit Version 2 gearboxes (M4/MP5 platforms) or proprietary AK shells that deviate from the standard V3 layout. If your gearbox is a clone or has been heavily modified, verify the plate geometry matches before ordering. Installation requires splitting the gearbox shell, so budget time and basic hand tools — or take it to a technician if you're not comfortable working on internals.

APS is a known supplier of reliable upgrade internals, and this plate is a straightforward fix for a common wear problem. If your selector is still clicking solidly and the markings are just faded, you can live with it. If the plate itself is cracked or the lever feels loose, this replacement gets it back to solid.
