The R30 is Army Armament's take on the 1911—a full-size, full-metal gas blowback that prioritizes weight and realism over everything else. It's a pistol built for players who want the heft and feel of the real deal in their hand on the field, not a lightweight carry piece.

What you get in the hand. The 8-inch frame houses a metal slide, lower frame, trigger, slide lock and magazine release. The grips are textured polymer. That weight pays off in blowback feel—the slide cycles hard, the recoil impulse is sharp, and the overall handling mimics a real 1911 closely enough that muscle memory transfers without a learning curve.

Velocity that plays everywhere. Rated 320–350 FPS on 0.20g BBs. That puts it comfortably inside indoor and CQB limits, fine for most outdoor skirmish fields, and well within DMR allowances for semi-auto fire. Chrono with your own BBs before your first game — gas pressure, ambient temperature, and BB weight all shift the number, and the only way to know is to put it on the stick.

Mechanics. Adjustable hop-up on the slide means you can dial in trajectory for distance, and with a well-set hop and decent BBs, this pistol is comfortable to 50–75 ft, which is more than adequate for a sidearm. If you want to squeeze more out of it, a tightbore 6.01mm barrel, an upgraded hop bucking, and a stiffer recoil spring are straightforward first upgrades.

Magazines and gas. The R30 ships with a 25-round metal magazine (Army Armament ARMY-A-60 pattern). Twenty-five rounds is a practical capacity for pistol engagements between reloads, and the metal construction keeps the blowback working as designed. Plan on picking up a couple extras — gas blowback mags are the single fastest-consumed part in a player's loadout, and having a charger and two or three loaded mags on hand makes game day smoother. Green gas powers this pistol, and green gas performance drops noticeably in cold weather. CO2 is an option if you play in winter and don't mind the extra kick on the trigger.

Before you buy. This pistol is heavy, and it carries that weight everywhere you take it. If you want something light for range bags or vehicle storage, a polymer-framed alternative exists elsewhere. The R30 has no blaze orange tip (US models of this platform do), so check your local field rules. Battery and charger are not included — this is a gas-powered platform, not electric.

This is a service-replica sidearm designed for realism, blowback feel, and a player who wants a 1911 they can game with. It's not a weekend warrior for someone who wants a cheap, low-maintenance gun — gas blowback requires gas, seal care, and occasional O-ring replacement. If that's your scene, the R30 fits right in.
