Magazines, phone, spare AAAs for your radio. You need them close, but you don't want to dig through a pocket full of loose crap to find one. That's what this pouch is for — a single compartment that swallows whatever fits and holds it in place.
The body is 1000D Cordura, which is the workhorse fabric in this space: tough, abrasion-resistant, and not going to give up the ghost after a season of crawling through mud. A hook-and-loop panel covers the top for quick one-handed access, and the sides have paracord lacing you can tighten around the item so it doesn't flop out when you reach in. A Cordloc adjuster on the bottom let's you cinch the compartment down to the size of what you're carrying — big smartphone or a magazine, it adjusts.
Two straps on the back mount it to standard MOLLE or PALS webbing on a vest, plate carrier, or belt rig. Coyote brown.
