The HFC HG171 is a gas blowback 1911 designed for what sidearms do best: serve as a reliable backup when your primary runs dry, or hold a CQB lane when you need something lighter than a rifle. The metal slide and polymer frame combination hits a practical middle ground—it feels substantial without the weight penalty of an all-metal build. At 1.9 pounds and 8 inches long, it fits in a standard pistol holster and won't fatigue your arm during a long day.
How the GBB system works. This runs on green gas or propane, with each trigger pull cycling the slide and simulating recoil. That blowback action is the main reason players choose GBB over spring or electric pistols: the manual of arms transfers directly to real firearms, which matters for training users and anyone who values the tactile feedback. The trade-off is consistency—cold weather drops output, and gas mags need refilling more often than AEG mags need batteries.
The 1911 platform. This follows Tokyo Marui's 1911 dimensions, so the magazine well, slide stop, and safety are compatible with the broadest aftermarket ecosystem in GBB pistols. The included 27-round magazine is standard capacity for a full-size 1911 pattern. If you already run other 1911 GBBs, mags and parts interchange. The adjustable hop-up lets you tune for heavier BBs, which hold their line better outdoors.
Externals. The frame has a Picatinny rail for lights or lasers, the trigger is a three-hole design with a skeletonized hammer, and the grip panels are textured polymer for wet-weather control. Iron sights are low-profile and functional for close work. The black finish is standard and won't draw attention at a field.
Before you buy. Green gas pistols are sensitive to temperature—expect reduced range and cycle rate below 50°F. You'll need to buy gas and BBs separately, and plan on 20–30 shots per mag fill depending on the gas and ambient conditions. This is a sidearm, not a primary: effective range tops out around 100 feet with good hop-up adjustment and heavier BBs. If you need a gun that performs identically in January and July, an HPA or electric pistol is the better choice.
Includes the HG-171 pistol and one 27-round gas magazine.
