Gun bags are the thing you buy hoping you don't need them, and then suddenly you need one yesterday. If you fly to events, carpool to the field, or just want your rifle to arrive where you started it, a 47-inch bag from Lancer Tactical covers most standard platforms without breaking the bank.

What it holds. The interior runs 47 inches, which is enough for an M4, AK, or gas blowback rifle with the stock collapsed. You can slide in a short GBB pistol and a magazine or two, but a scope on an SR-25 or G36 platform with an extended stock probably pushes the limit. If the gun's length with stock extended is over 47 inches, grab the next size up.

1000D nylon is the right material for the job. It's the same denier rating you see on tactical packs and field bags — thick enough to take scuffs from loading it in and out of a trunk, rough enough to survive sitting in a field box without worrying. It's not waterproof, so don't leave it sitting out in the rain expecting zero protection. Keep it in a dry place when you're not using it and the nylon will hold up.

Carrying and transport. It's a long soft-sided bag with a handle. You carry it by the handle, sling it over your shoulder, or toss it in the back seat. It folds down flat when you don't need it. It's not a hard case — if you're checking it on commercial flights or need protection against heavy impact, go hard. For field trips and car trunks, this does what it should without adding weight or bulk.

Who it isn't for. If you need waterproof storage, padded protection, or a bag for a sniper rifle with an extended stock, this isn't the one. For the bulk of airsoft players transporting a standard-length rifle between regular games, it gets the job done.
