Lancer Tactical's GEN 2 selector cover is a small polymer part that closes the opening around the selector switch on the receiver, keeping dirt, water and grass out of the gearbox area. Debris that gets in there can work its way into the trigger group, where grit on the contacts and selector plate causes intermittent electrical faults that are hard to diagnose from outside. It's also the kind of part that gets lost during a strip or broken by a knock, so a spare is cheaper than living without one.
