It's a tiny polymer clip sitting on the sector gear, and it's one of those parts that turns a rebuild into a scramble if you've dropped it on the workbench and can't find it again. The delayer clip controls tappet plate timing in the Lancer Tactical Gen-4 gearbox — it's what tells the air nozzle when to retract and when to reseal against the BB chamber. Get the timing wrong, and you get soft shots, inconsistent velocity, or a piston that doesn't seat properly.
Why it matters on a rebuild. Every time you split the Gen-4 gearbox for maintenance or an upgrade, there's a good chance the delayer clip pops off, gets bent slightly, or vanishes. If you're reassembling without it, the tappet plate moves at the wrong time, air seal suffers, and the gun shoots unevenly regardless of what other parts you've installed. The clip is polymer, so it's easy to snap if you force it in wrong — but it also means the OEM part is the one you want, not a random aftermarket piece cut for a different shell.
Compatibility. This is designed specifically for Lancer Tactical Gen-4 AEG gearbox assemblies. It is not a universal tappet plate or sector gear component — if your gearbox is a Gen-3 or an older design, this won't fit. When in doubt, open the box and compare before you commit.
Before you order. If you're ordering this as part of a Gen-4 rebuild, make sure you have the rest of the internals lined up too — the sector gear itself, the tappet plate, the piston, the cylinder head, and any O-rings you plan to replace while the box is open. This clip does the job alone, but half the reason people replace it is that they've been apart for a while and might as well get everything sorted at once.
