Why it matters. Outer barrels are the cosmetic skin around your inner barrel. Swapping to a shorter, lighter one trims weight from the muzzle, which tightens the balance point and makes the gun feel quicker in hand. The outer barrel does not change velocity, accuracy, or hop-up — that's all inner barrel and bucking territory. But it does let you run a shorter, cleaner look while keeping your full inner-barrel length for range.
