The ZKS-74un tackles a real problem on AK platforms: folding stocks have historically been weak points. Cheap folding mechanisms strip their gears, develop play, or simply fail. This one handles it differently — inside is a Ver 3 full metal gearbox paired with GATE's Aster upgrade, which swaps the plastic sector gear for a CNC-machined metal one. That matters. Folding stocks transmit stress differently than fixed ones, and a metal sector gear is what keeps that mechanism honest over time.

How it shoots. 390 FPS on 0.20g BBs through a 255mm inner barrel, with an adjustable hop-up. That velocity sits in the outdoor field sweet spot — you won't get kicked out on a standard 400 FPS cap, and you can still tune down for tighter events. Effective range is solid for the typical AK engagement envelope: roughly 120 to 150 feet with a good hop-up setting. It fires from a closed bolt, which helps with shot consistency on semi-auto.

Magazines you won't hunt. The rifle ships with a 130-round mid-cap that works with LCT and other AK-pattern AEG mags. AK mag ecosystems are broadly cross-compatible, so finding spares is easy and cheap. That's a real advantage over platform-specific designs.

Power. The short-type motor matches the Ver 3 shell perfectly. This rifle is not LiPO-ready, so the recommended power is a stick pack that fits the internal compartment. It's wired to the dust cover with a small Tamiya connector — the included battery and charger make this a ready-to-run package. You don't need to source a LiPO, a Deans adapter, or a balance charger. The battery is inside the box.

The fold. The Z-series stock collapses significantly from full extension — a substantial reduction for transport or vehicle storage. The AK folding stock pivots at the receiver and locks solid when extended. It's not a gimmick; it's the kind of feature that makes this gun work for players who need something that shrinks when it's not in play and fires at full length when it is.

Muzzle and externals. The 14mm CCW threaded barrel accepts standard AK muzzle devices — flash hiders, compensators, mock suppressors. The sport handguard is fiber-reinforced polymer, lightweight and functional. The whole package weighs around 6.8 lbs, which is typical for an AK build and not something you need to fight to carry.

Before you buy. The small Tamiya connector is the older standard, so if you already run XT60 or Deans, you'll want an adapter. The included power source is the correct chemistry for this rifle — don't try to force a LiPO in there. Canada compliant, so it ships with the required markings.
