Three hundred eighty feet per second on a 0.20g BB — that puts this pistol just outside most indoor CQB caps, but it's a common number for a starter gas blowback, and one that players working outdoor fields running 400 FPS are comfortable carrying as a sidearm. If you want something that feels like a real pistol and works at a casual field without asking questions, the XG8 is a straightforward choice.

It's a gas blowback, so you get working recoil from the reciprocating slide and a manual of arms that mirrors the real thing. The polymer frame keeps the weight manageable, and the metal slide gives you the heft and the kick that make the feel convincing. The 97mm inner barrel with an adjustable hop-up isn't going to win grouping contests, but with decent BBs you'll be comfortable out to 30 or 40 feet in typical backyard and CQB conditions. It's a sidearm, not a primary — that's a feature, not a compromise.

The selector switch lives inside the slide. Pull the slide back slightly and you feel a detent click in to full auto. That selector is the kind of detail that works well until you're reaching for the slide under pressure and forget where it is. Try it at home first, take ten seconds to learn the feel, and then it disappears into muscle memory.

This platform is one of Poseidon's own designs, which means the internals are proprietary — no TM or WE compatibility. Parts come from Poseidon only, which narrows your upgrade path but hasn't proven a problem in practice; the pistol runs well out of the box and the parts supply has been reliable.

Another nice touch is the RMR footprint cut in the slide. If you're running a red dot on your primary and want your backup to match, there's no need to buy an adapter plate — the optic mounts right on. The muzzle threads at 11mm clockwise, which is less common than the 14mm CCW standard, but the combo includes a steel adapter that steps you up to 14mm CCW, so standard tracers and mock suppressors work without hunting for thread adapters.

This is a bundled package, and it ships with everything you actually need on your first trip to the field: the pistol, a 25-round magazine, a can of green gas, and a bag of 0.25g seamless BBs. Gas and BBs are included, so you don't need to order anything else before your first game. Battery and charger are not relevant here — this runs on green gas alone.
