SHS's aluminum cylinder head replaces the stock head in a Version 2 gearbox, the shell used in most M4 pattern AEGs. It sits at the front of the cylinder, where it does two jobs at once: it seals the air behind the piston so velocity stays consistent shot to shot, and it sets how far the piston sits forward at rest, which is part of how the sector gear picks up the rack. The aluminum body won't deform under the repeated hammering the piston delivers, so the geometry stays where you set it. It's a machine part, not a drop-in cure-all, so check the o-rings when you fit it.
