The Well G196 Mauser is a CO2 blowback pistol built around one of the most distinctive silhouettes in firearms history. That long barrel and grip-mounted magazine aren't just cosmetic; they make this one of the heavier pistols in its class at 1.7 lbs, which damps recoil but makes it awkward for quick draws and all-day holster carry.
Power and velocity. It runs on 12g CO2 cartridges housed in the magazine, delivering 350 FPS on 0.20g BBs. That hits the upper edge of typical indoor CQB limits (300–350 FPS) and works for outdoor fields that allow pistols at that cap. CO2 runs at higher pressure than green gas, so you get more consistent output in cold weather, but it also puts more stress on seals and requires more frequent maintenance.
The trade-off: no hop-up. This pistol has a fixed barrel with no hop-up adjustment. That limits range and consistency. Without hop-up, heavier BBs won't stabilize like they would in a standard pistol. You're locked into the factory barrel's trajectory. This is a CQB and close-mid range sidearm, not a long-range option.
Realistic blowback, semi-auto only. The slide cycles with every shot, which adds realism and helps you track follow-up shots, but it also wastes gas. The G196 is semi-auto only, no full-auto mode. That works fine for a sidearm; most players use pistols for backup or CQB where controlled fire is the goal anyway.
What's in the box. Unlike most airsoft guns that ship empty, the G196 includes a sample bag of BBs along with the pistol, a 15-round CO2 magazine, and the manual. That's a nice touch for someone just getting started, but you'll burn through BBs quickly, and you'll need to buy CO2 cartridges separately.
Before you buy. The 15-round capacity is modest. In a skirmish where you're the primary gunner, you'll want at least two or three spare mags. The extra mags may be platform-specific depending on what's available.
What this is not for. If you're looking for a primary rifle substitute or a pistol you can tune for outdoor fields, this isn't it. The lack of hop-up, fixed barrel, and limited capacity put it firmly in the close-range sidearm category. It's best as a backup for rifle players, a CQB primary for tight indoor fields, or a collector piece for Mauser enthusiasts.
Includes federally mandated blaze orange muzzle tip.
