WellFire's M40A5 is a bolt-action spring sniper rifle built on a classic M40 platform. It measures 47 inches long and weighs 6.3 pounds, combining a metal receiver and outer barrel with an ABS polymer stock to keep the weight manageable. The spring mechanism fires single shots at 420–460 FPS on 0.20g BBs.

This rifle uses a proprietary internal design, so standard Tokyo Marui VSR-10 or Type 96 upgrades will not drop in. It lacks a standard adjustable hop-up unit. A top Picatinny rail accepts optics, and forward rails support accessories. The package includes a 26-round magazine, a 3-9x40 scope with mounting rings, a folding bipod, and the manual. Heavier BBs in the 0.28g to 0.30g range are recommended to stabilize flight.
