The skull pattern is there if you want your opponents to see something other than your chin when they look up from cover. It's not a performance feature, but on a game day where everyone's wearing the same black mask, it's hard to argue with the effect.

Hook-and-loop straps wrap around your head and adjust on the fly. No buckles to fumble with when you're swapping gear or pulling goggles on and off. Two foam pads sit against your jaw and lower cheeks, which matters more than you'd expect when you're wearing this for three hours straight. Small ventilation holes along the front keep fog from building up inside, which is the real enemy when you're playing hard and your mask is pressed against your face.

Polymer shell, woodland digital finish, roughly three ounces. It's light enough that you forget it's there until you need the protection.
