Gas blowback rifles vent hot gas right past your front hand. Every shot sends a small cloud of propane into your palm. A blast shield catches it. The Ares Type B is an aluminum alloy shield that mounts on your 14mm CCW threaded barrel and puts a wall between the gas port and your hand.
It's straightforward. No springs, no moving parts or batteries. Just a shield designed to attach to the standard airsoft rifle muzzle thread. The aluminum takes the usual field abuse, the black finish holds up, and it adds almost no weight. The shield alone ships in the box.
If you run a springer or an HPA rifle, you don't need this. It only matters on gas blowback systems. If you already play with one, it's the kind of cheap, five-minute fix you don't realize you need until you're at the lane and wondering why your hand burns every time you fire.
