The Ares SR25 RIS is designed for a specific role in a skirmish game: designated marksman. It's a semi-auto AEG built on the SR25 platform, which means it gives you precision and range without the bolt-action downtime that leaves you exposed between shots. Players who run one usually pair it with a primary carbine, using the SR25 to hold lanes and put measured fire where it counts.
What the build means. Inside is a metal Version 2 gearbox — the most widely supported shell in airsoft, so gears, pistons, springs and cylinder parts are off-the-shelf when you want to tune it. The gun weighs 7.4 lbs, and that weight is a feature, not a bug. Heavier guns absorb recoil, reduce muzzle jump, and stay stable when you're tracking targets across open ground. Polymer furniture keeps it from becoming unwieldy.
Where range comes from. The rated 400 FPS on 0.20g BBs puts it in the sweet spot for most outdoor DMR limits — typically 380 to 400 FPS — and inside the caps of fields that run tighter. But effective range is about hop-up quality and air seal, not raw velocity. The adjustable hop-up is where range potential lives. Chrono with your own BBs before the first game — BB weight and temperature both shift the number.
What you get in the box. The combo includes everything to start playing: a 160-round mid-capacity magazine in standard M4/AEG pattern (spares are universal, cheap, and available anywhere), a battery with Deans connector, a Deans adapter, a charger, and a bag of BBs. Heavier BBs will drop velocity from 400 but shoot flatter and hold their line better at range, which is often the smarter play for a marksman platform.
Externals. The RIS handguard carries a full-length Picatinny rail up top. The overall length is 40.25 inches with the fixed stock. This is a long rifle — comfortable in open fields and across lanes, less practical in tight indoor CQB where a compact carbine would make more sense.
Before you play. The included battery and charger cover the basics. Plan on picking up a second pack if you're running the gun more than once in a session — single packs rarely get through an entire day of playing.
Includes federally mandated blaze orange muzzle tip.
