Most AKs come with wood or polymer handguards that don't accept modern accessories. The Atlas Custom Works Short M-LOK Handguard changes that for CYMA AK builds, giving you a CNC aluminum front end with M-LOK slots instead of the traditional ribbed surface.

Why the material matters. At 300 grams (roughly 0.66 lbs), this is CNC-machined aluminum rather than stamped steel or polymer. That means it won't flex when you mount a light or grip, and it won't crack like cheap castings can. The weight is light enough that you won't notice it during a game, but rigid enough to hold zero on accessories.

M-LOK over old-school AK rails. Traditional AK handguards use side-mounted rails that add bulk and only work with specific accessories. M-LOK lets you mount grips, lights, and lasers at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock without the clunky rail adapters AKs usually require. You get the same accessory ecosystem as your M4, just on an AK platform.

What fits. This is designed for CYMA AKM, AK74, and AK105 AEG rifles. Those are the short-barrel variants. If you have a full-size CYMA AK with a long handguard, this won't fit. The specs list only those three models for a reason.

What you'll need. The package includes only the handguard. Installation requires basic tools and some patience—AK handguard swaps aren't as plug-and-play as M4 upper swaps. This is a front-end upgrade for builders who want their AK to run modern accessories without the bulk of old-school rail systems. It won't improve accuracy or velocity, and it's not for full-size AKs. If those are your priorities, look elsewhere.
