Silicone spray is the cheapest insurance you can buy for an airsoft gearbox. A few drops on the piston O-ring, cylinder head, and nozzle keep the air seal consistent, which is what makes a gun shoot the same shot after shot. The Classic Army can is 450ml, which lasts a long time because you only need a drop or two per application.
Where to use it. Inside the gearbox on moving parts — piston rails, tappet plate bearings, and the nozzle pivot. A light coat on the outer barrel bore helps with cleaning, and you can wipe it on external metal to guard against moisture. Do not spray directly into the hop-up chamber or onto rubber buckings; silicone degrades some rubber compounds over time. If your buckings are silicone (Maple Leaf SLC series), they are compatible, but standard rubber buckings should stay dry.
What it is not. This is not a cleaner. It does not remove carbon buildup, old grease, or fouling. You still need to disassemble and clean the gearbox periodically. It is also not a substitute for proper grease on high-load surfaces — piston teeth and gear contact points should be greased, not oiled.
Wipe off any excess before reassembly to avoid attracting dust.
