The DE Airsoft AK47 AEG features an impact-resistant polymer receiver, handguard, motor grip, and solid fixed rear stock. To balance the lightweight plastic components, DE Airsoft installs a metal outer barrel assembly, a metal receiver top cover, a metal trigger guard, and metal sling mounting loops, resulting in a total weight of 7 lbs.

Internally, it utilizes a proprietary polymer Version 3 gearbox that shoots between 300–350 FPS with 0.20g BBs in semi and full-automatic modes. Because it uses a polymer gearbox shell rather than a metal one, it is not built to withstand high-stress internal upgrades like heavy high-FPS springs or high-voltage MOSFET systems, which can crack the housing. It does, however, accept standard external components like short-type motors, standard V3 replacement inner barrels, and aftermarket hop-up buckings.

The best upgrade path focuses on maximizing accuracy and range without stressing the mechanical system. Swapping out the factory barrel for a premium tightbore inner barrel and installing a high-grade hop-up bucking improves shot consistency safely. The airsoft rifle feeds from an included wind-up 450-round high-capacity magazine.
