The L96 AWP is the archetype of a bolt-action sniper rifle in airsoft. This bundle from Double Eagle tackles the usual hassle of assembling a working long-range platform by shipping everything a buyer needs in one box—the gun, an optic, bipod, ammo, and a speedloader. If you've been trying to piece together a bolt-action for a field that runs 450 FPS or below and you'd rather not hunt for compatible accessories, this is the shortcut.
What's actually in it. The rifle itself has a metal barrel and metal trigger assembly, with a reinforced polymer grip and stock. At 44.9 inches and 9 lbs, it's a substantial rifle—solid for supported shooting and prone positions, heavy enough that running it around CQB lanes isn't its purpose. The bolt is spring-powered, so you cock it manually every shot. Velocity is rated 420–460 FPS on 0.20g BBs, which places it inside the typical bolt-action and DMR caps for most US fields, though you should always chrono before playing since field rules vary. The 20mm Picatinny rail sits atop the receiver for the included optic, and a bipod mounts underneath.
It actually comes with ammo. 2,500 BBs are in the box. That's useful: it means you can shoot immediately without a separate BB order. For a bolt-action at this velocity, heavier BBs tend to hold their line better. The included speedloader holds a batch of rounds and lets you skip the tedious one-by-one bolt loading during a game — reload it once, then pop BBs in while you're waiting for your turn to shoot.
What the bolt action means in practice. Manual cocking is deliberate and slows your engagement cycle, but that's the point. A bolt-action game is about position, cover, and making each shot count. The metal barrel should hold velocity more consistently than polymer-barrel alternatives, and the length of the rifle gives the hop-up more distance to work over. The included scope is a bolt-action-ready optic, not a red dot grafted onto a carbine platform. The bipod is a genuine field tool rather than a display prop — drop it in front of the rifle and you'll see how much steadier the aim gets.
What else you'll need. No battery required &mdash> this is spring-powered, so there are zero electronics to charge, break, or worry about in cold weather. You will need BBs if you run through the included 2,500. The 30-round magazine is filled using the included speedloader, so keeping a spare loader on hand means you don't have to stop playing to reload. If the included scope doesn't suit your eyes, swapping optics on the Picatinny rail is straightforward.
A note on weight. 9 lbs is not a lightweight build. The metal barrel and trigger assembly give it real gun weight, and if you've been running polymer AEGs this is going to feel like a different animal. That weight is part of the stability advantage &mdash> it doesn't jump when you pull the bolt, and it doesn't wobble as much behind the scope. Just don't expect to sprint it around a building.
What this rifle isn't for. It's a dedicated long-range game gun, not a close-quarters tool or a platform for rapid fire. It's also not built for milsim roles that demand quick target transitions. If you want to play every scenario at a field day, run a separate AEG or GBBR and keep this for the open fields.
Includes federally mandated blaze orange muzzle tip.
