The MB4417 is a bolt action sniper rifle that copies the look and proportions of the M40A3 — the Marines' iconic combat rifle — while actually being approachable for players who want to step into the sniper role without the pain points that usually come with it.
Why bolt action. Bolt action is the simplest possible way to play long range. No gas, no battery, no tuning. You open the bolt, drop a BB in, close it, aim, fire. The trade-off is the reload cycle. A good operator can get a bolt action off in under two seconds with practice, but every shot means working the action, and that means carrying more mags than an AEG player. The 30-round magazine included with this rifle is more than enough for the role, but the speed loader in the bundle makes topping off mags between games noticeably faster.
Velocity and range. Rated 370–380 FPS on 0.20g BBs, which sits comfortably inside the typical bolt-action / sniper class limits running 450 to 550 FPS. You'll be under most outdoor sniper caps, which is fine — bolt action accuracy is limited by the hop-up and the shooter, not by raw velocity, and you generally want to chrono on your own BBs anyway since 0.20g isn't what this gun is optimized for. With a good hop-up setup and 0.30g+ BBs, a rifle in this class is typically comfortable to about 120–150 feet, and up to roughly 200 feet if the player has the experience to read wind and dial the hop. The adjustable hop-up unit and 28-inch outer barrel give you a solid base to work with.
How it's built. The receiver and outer barrel are metal; the body and stock are polymer. That combination keeps the weight at 7.2 pounds while adding weight where it counts — the metal barrel and receiver damp vibration and improve consistency over an all-polymer build. Picatinny rails run along the top and under the handguard, with additional rails on the side — the top section is where the included scope mounts, and the others handle accessories like bipods or backup irons. The adjustable length of pull lets different builds find a comfortable shoulder fit.
What's in the box. Gun, 30-round magazine, included scope, bipod, a bag of 2500 BBs, a speed loader, and a manual. The included BBs pair well with bolt action platforms — heavier BBs generally fly more consistently at lower velocities and hold their line in wind better than the 0.20s most chrono sheets use for testing. The scope and bipod make this truly ready to play straight out of the box, which is unusual at this price tier.
Before you buy. This is a field sniper, not a milsim collector's piece. The polymer body and stock won't match the heft or finish of a real-steel M40, but the metal barrel and receiver put it ahead of entry-level bolt guns that are plastic through and through. If you're after a display rifle or a fully metallic build, look elsewhere. For playing the role at your local outdoor field — reliable, accurate, no fuss — this does the job well.
Includes federally mandated blaze orange muzzle tip.
