The HFC HG-171 is a CO2 blowback 1911 that brings full-size pistol realism to a compact package. At 1.9 pounds with a metal slide and polymer frame, it has the weight and feel of a duty sidearm. The 240-260 FPS rating on 0.20g BBs puts it in CQB territory, which works well for indoor fields and tight outdoor lanes where full-auto rifles get restricted.
CO2 versus green gas. This pistol runs on 12g CO2 cartridges seated inside the magazine, not green gas. CO2 gives more consistent power across a range of temperatures, useful if you play in cold weather or want tighter shot-to-shot groups. But CO2 runs at higher pressure, so you go through cartridges faster and the gun sees more wear on seals over time. Each 27-round magazine holds one cartridge, and you will want to keep spares on hand, both loaded magazines and fresh CO2 cells.
Externals and controls. The metal slide has front and rear serrations for reliable racking, and the polymer frame features textured grip panels for a secure hold. A lower Picatinny rail accepts lights and lasers. The three-hole trigger and skeletonized hammer give it a tactical look, while the thumb safety and beaver-tail grip safety mirror the 1911 manual of arms. At 8 inches overall, it fits standard universal holsters.
What is in the box. The HG-171 ships with the pistol, one 27-round magazine, a sample bag of BBs, and a hardshell carrying case. You need your own CO2 cartridges and bulk BBs. The included sample is just enough to test the function. Grab a 500-round bag of 0.25g or 0.28g BBs for actual play. Heavier BBs stabilize better and reduce wind drift at typical pistol ranges.
Before you buy. This is a sidearm, not a primary. The 27-round capacity means frequent reloads during a game, so budget two or three extra magazines if you plan to use it as your main gun. The adjustable hop-up improves consistency, but do not expect DMR-range performance. This is a CQB and backup weapon. It works well for training drills or as a reliable field sidearm, and it delivers the look and feel without the cost of higher-end GBBs.
Includes federally mandated blaze orange muzzle tip.
