What protects your gun. The outer shell is molded polymer, which handles the rough stuff better than fabric bags. Inside, foam inserts compress around your rifle when you close the lid, keeping it from shifting during transport. The snap-lock latches are straightforward: you press down to close, and they hold tight enough that a bump or drop won't pop them open. This is a universal case, not a custom-molded fit, so your rifle will sit in the foam rather than being locked into place. If you're shipping it or throwing it in the bed of a truck for a long haul, add a layer of bubble wrap or a towel for extra cushioning.

What else goes in. The case is big enough for a rifle plus a couple of magazines, a small battery pack, and maybe a cleaning rod.
