Lancer Tactical Adaptive Recon Tactical Vest, Black

It's a plate carrier. Nothing clever about the name — Lancer Tactical's Recon Vest is what you slide a hard plate into, wear over your gear, and expect not to slip around when you're moving fast.

How it fits. The shoulder straps adjust for length, and the cummerbund around your waist adjusts separately. You dial those two in, pull the velcro panels on the sides tight, and the vest stays where you put it. You can take the cummerbund off entirely for a leaner profile, which some players do for CQB. That's the trade-off: it's still a plate carrier without it, but you lose the rear panel that keeps the plate from shifting.

What goes in it. The vest carries one front and one back plate. The pockets are internal velcro panels — you insert your plates between the fabric and the velcro, not into a pocket you reach into. Standard plate sizes should seat without fuss, but dimensions aren't quoted on the shell itself, so check your plates' measurements against the vest's pocket spacing before you commit. The molle webbing runs along the front and the cummerbund, so you can rig pouches without adding bulk to the plate area. Back panel molle is available when the cummerbund is on.

Material that doesn't fight you. Nylon is the usual choice for a reason — it's light enough that you don't notice it until you drop one, durable enough to take abrasion from running and crawling, and doesn't get punishingly cold in winter or hot in summer the way some synthetics do. It's not going to stop a bullet on its own. The plates do that. The vest just holds them in place and keeps them from bouncing around.

What's in the box. The plate carrier only — no plates, no pouches. You need to source those separately if you don't already have them. A pair of NIJ-rated plates and a few essential pouches are the next steps before this thing is game-ready.
