The MH Type is the helmet that made airsoft players care about head gear. First seen on US Special Forces operators in the mid-1990s and popularized by a certain tactical shooter franchise, it gives you the look of a real combat loadout without the steel-plated weight. Built from high-density polymer, it takes an impact better than the old cloth skull caps and saves your forehead from the kind of marks that last for days.
What you can mount. The sides carry MOLLE webbing panels, so standard PVS-14 night-vision shrouds, rail-mounted lights, and action cameras clip on without adapters. The front panel has webbing for patches, and the chin strap actually holds when you're moving — which matters more than it sounds when you're sprinting through cover. There's no top rail for optics; this is designed for a game, not as an up-armored platform. If you want a flat-top with full rail coverage, look at a different helmet.
Fit and comfort. Interior padded foam panels and a sweatband keep it in place, but expect a break-in period. New foam is stiff and straps are tight until they loosen through use. The chin strap is adjustable, and the helmet fits a range of head sizes — check your specific SKU's sizing chart. A thin skull cap or balaclava underneath helps with comfort and reduces friction on the padding. The tan color is a warm sand tone that matches standard multi-cam-adjacent kit.
Protection level. This is airsoft-rated, not military armor. It absorbs a solid hit, and it won't stop a close-range 0.20g at full velocity dead-on. For regular skirmish and milsim play it does what it needs to do, at a price that won't make you hesitate at checkout. Pair it with a face shield or goggles if your field runs hot, and always wear certified eye protection regardless — that's non-negotiable on the field, helmet or no helmet.
