A bump helmet is exactly what it sounds like: a lightweight shell for your head without the weight and heat of a full ballistic rig. The Lancer Tactical MH Type is for players who want something that sits under the helmet, covers the skull, and gets them through the door at a milsim event or a game with a bit more protection than a beanie — but who don't want to carry five pounds of polymer on their neck.

The MH rail. This is the reason to buy it. A full-width tactical rail runs across the top from ear to ear — a three-slot cutout pattern that works with standard accessory plates, NVG shrouds, and light brackets. If your loadout already uses the common rail-mount ecosystem, this helmet plays nice with it. If you're building from scratch, you'll want to grab the mounting plates or brackets first.

ABS plastic. That's the material and it keeps the weight down — the trade-off is obvious: a shell that won't weigh you down on a long game day, but not the impact ratings of a full-certified ballistic helmet. Wear it for the look and the protection from stray flakes, not for taking a solid hit to the forehead. Molded construction means a clean dome with no weak spots at joints.

Fit and comfort. The large size fits a broad range of head sizes, but bump helmets are snug by design — they need to stay put when you're moving. If you wear glasses, a balaclava underneath, or a headset with thick ear pads, measure your head first. The interior typically lines with a simple foam cushion or fabric pad; it's washable in the sense that you can take the pad out and toss it in the sink, and breathable enough that you won't lose half a pint of sweat on a hot August game.

What it is not. This isn't a full helmet with cheek guards and ear protection. If you play in a tight CQB venue where walls bounce BBs from every angle, you'll want the full shell. The bump helmet leaves the sides of your head and your ears exposed. It's also not a police-grade certified piece of kit — it's airsoft gear for airsoft, and the ABS shell is meant to absorb scrapes and dings, not stop a paintball or a high-energy BB at close range.

Before you buy. The helmet arrives as the shell only — no mounting plates, no NVG brackets, no padding upgrades. If you plan to run a light or a camera on the rail, order those separately. Sizing is large only; if your head falls on the smaller side, it might feel loose without a sweatband or skull cap underneath.
