An M160 is the kind of spring you reach for when the field needs you to hold 200 yards and your current setup can't. Lancer Tactical's Japanese Certified line is their upgrade-grade offering, and this one is wound tight enough to push a gearbox into DMR or bolt-action territory.

What the number means. Spring ratings are a rough guide to the velocity an otherwise stock setup produces. M160 lands roughly in the 450–500 FPS range on 0.20g BBs, which is where most DMR rules sit and where bolt-action sniper rifles live. The rating is not a promise — cylinder choice, inner barrel length, and air seal all move the final number. You still chrono with your own BBs before your first game.

A heavier spring stresses everything. Pulling an M160 reliably means your motor, gears, and battery are up to the job. A high-torque motor and a gear set that can handle the load are what belong in this conversation — fitting a stock motor to a spring this heavy is how people stall gears and cook packs. If your battery is already pushing it on your current spring, this one will ask even more. A MOSFET is also strongly recommended: the extra current the spring draws means bigger arcs across trigger contacts, and the MOSFET is what prevents them from burning out.

Installation. Most Version 2 gearboxes are not quick-change, so swapping a spring means splitting the shell — opening the gearbox, removing the old spring, piston, and cylinder head, then going back together. Version 3 gearboxes with a quick-change spring guide let you do it from the back without splitting. Whichever platform you're working on, the job also means re-checking your angle of engagement, because the new spring length changes where the piston sits. Bad AOE is the most common cause of a piston that strips on the first few shots after a swap. Budget an hour the first time.
