The MRK-74 is a mid-length AK-pattern AEG that lives in a useful spot on the field. Its stamped steel receiver and polymer furniture make it feel like a real AK without the premium price of milled receivers, and the V3 gearbox means spring swaps happen through the back of the box without splitting the shell. It ships at 400–420 FPS on 0.20g BBs, which puts it squarely at the top end of most outdoor field limits. You might want to double-check before bringing it inside an indoor facility — some run higher caps, many don't.

The gearbox. Full metal Version 3. V3 is the shell used by AKs, G36s, and a few other platforms. It's generally the more robust of the two common shells — no split trigger contacts to arc and burn, and a quick-change spring guide so you can swap springs in a pinch without splitting the box.

Velocity that hits the outdoor sweet spot. 400–420 FPS on 0.20g BBs clears typical 380 to 400 outdoor limits at the low end and sits inside them at the high end. As always, chrono with your own BBs before your first game — BB weight and temperature both move the number, and the factory spec is a guide, not a guarantee.

Externals. The receiver is stamped steel, not milled, so it's lighter and more affordable but still solid. Polymer handguard, grip, and buffer tube. The six-position adjustable stock runs from 36.5 inches collapsed to 39 inches extended. There's an AK-style side rail on the receiver for optics — buy whatever sight or red dot fits your M1913 rail. Iron sights are included and adjustable. The threaded muzzle accepts standard AK muzzle devices — check the manual for thread pitch.

Magazines. The MRK-74 uses AK-pattern magazines. The 130-round mid-cap it ships with is a sensible capacity for most games. If you play with a partner who runs AKs, you may be able to swap mags — check the manual to confirm.

What's in the box. Battery and charger are included, which is genuinely useful — many buyers don't have one and need to source both. The battery uses a Deans connector, and a Deans adapter ships with it. You get a bag of BBs as well, which means you can run the chrono and your first game straight from the box. If you already have batteries and BBs, the charger and BBs are still worth keeping as backups.

Includes federally mandated blaze orange muzzle tip.
