The AK side rail is one of the most practical optic mounting positions on the platform. It keeps your eyes in line with the receiver, clears the gas block, and lets you still use your iron sights by dropping the scope off. This mount from Ranger Armory is built for that exact workflow.

Why CNC matters here. It's machined from solid aluminum, not cast. On a scope mount, that means tighter tolerances on the contact surfaces, which means the mount sits flush against the side rail and the scope bases don't shift under recoil. AK recoil is brutal on zero retention, and the mounting surface is the first thing in the chain.

Quick-detach, the way it should work. The mount uses standard 11mm QD scope bars, so you can fit nearly any aftermarket scope base pair. When the match is over and you want to run irons, you drop the scope off in seconds and it comes back to the same zero. No retiming, no re-zeroing.
