Plastic sling swivels crack when a loaded rifle drops to the hip. Steel ones don't, and this is a replacement or upgrade mount in M4 pattern threading.
It screws into standard sling points on M4/M16 receiver sets, handguards, and stock tubes. The swivel rotates so the sling clears the controls rather than fighting the fire selector or magazine release. If you're running a single-point or two-point sling on an aluminum furniture setup, this is the piece that takes the load.
One swivel ships per order. Most sling setups need two, so plan on ordering a pair unless you're replacing a broken mount.
