The new Legends Thompson rifle from UMAREX is a .177 caliber air gun, and is not permitted for use in airsoft competitions or skirmishes. The Legends MP40 is specially designed to be a high quality target rifle, and can shoot metal BBs up to 435 FPS. The Thompson was invented in 1918, becoming infamous during the Prohibition era and used by law enforcement and criminals alike. This rifle later became one of the most recognizable and favored rifles for soldiers during World War II. The original real-steel version of the Thompson was adored for its accuracy and high rate of fire, and has been accurately recreated on an airsoft platform thanks to Cybergun. It was during the early and mid 1900s that this rifle was given a number of nicknames including “Tommy Gun, “Chicago Typewriter”, “The Chopper”, “Trench Boom” and then finally became the Thompson, named after its creator John T. Thompson. UMAREX used high quality metal internals and a full metal frame for this rifle to add to the overall authenticity and rigidity of this replica.
