You're swapping the outer barrel because the stock one is too thin, the wrong length, or just not the look you want. This 16-inch aluminum alloy outer barrel from Atlas Custom Works drops onto most M4/M16 airsoft rifles and replaces the factory tube with something more substantial.

What it actually does. The outer barrel is the visible sleeve that covers your inner barrel. It doesn't affect velocity, accuracy, or hop-up — that's the inner barrel's job underneath. What the outer barrel gives you is a cleaner profile, a longer sight radius, and somewhere to mount a flash hider or tracer unit with a positive thread connection instead of slip-fit wobble.

Sixteen inches is the M4 carbine standard. It's long enough to look right and give your optics a solid base, without pushing the gun into DMR territory. If you're running a 12-inch or shorter inner barrel underneath, the extra length is purely external — the barrel just extends past where the inner barrel ends.

Material and finish. Aluminum alloy throughout, black anodized finish. It's lighter than a steel outer barrel and won't add enough weight to change how the gun balances.

Threading. Standard 14mm CCW at the muzzle, which is the airsoft rifle thread you'll find on the vast majority of flash hiders and tracer units. No adapters needed.

Fit note. "Most M4/M16 rifles" means most — the outer barrel needs to slide over your existing inner barrel with a tight fit, and inner barrel diameters vary by manufacturer. If your current outer barrel is a press fit and won't come off with moderate hand pressure, you may need to swap the inner barrel first or confirm the inner diameter matches before buying.
