The stock polymer grip on a Tokyo Marui Hi Capa gets the job done, but it feels light and can wear smooth after a hard season. The Atlas Custom Works Type 9 grip kit replaces that entire lower section with CNC aluminum, so you get a solid, weighted feel that doesn't flex under stress. It also reprofiles the grip angle for a more natural point, which matters when you're drawing fast or transitioning between targets.
What's in the box. You get the full grip module, a magwell that widens the magazine throat for faster reloads, a trigger guard, hammer spring housing, and all the assembly screws. This is a complete lower-replacement kit, not a partial upgrade. The red anodized finish is part of the CNC process, not a paint job, so it won't chip or peel with normal use.
Installation is straightforward. You're swapping out the stock polymer lower, which means removing the slide, taking out the internal frame pins, and bolting in the new aluminum assembly. If you've done a Hi Capa tune before, you already know the steps. If this is your first Hi Capa build, budget 30–45 minutes and keep track of the small screws — they're easy to lose.
What this changes. The added weight at the grip lowers the balance point slightly, which steadies the slide during recoil. The magwell speeds reloads by guiding the magazine in without fumbling. The trigger guard and housing are full metal, so there's no flex where the stock plastic would bend. You're not changing the internals or the power curve — you're upgrading the platform you hold.
This is a fit-and-finish upgrade for the Hi Capa platform. If you're looking for internal performance gains like higher velocity or better trigger response, that requires a different set of parts. The Type 9 grip kit is about ergonomics, durability, and the feel of running metal instead of polymer.
