Lancer Tactical's Gen 2 polycarbonate piston is a drop-in replacement for any Version 2 gearbox, made for builds running a light to moderate spring where rate of fire and trigger response matter more than raw strength. The polycarbonate body is lighter than a full steel piston, so it accelerates and stops more readily each cycle and arrives at the cylinder head with less force. That's easier on the cylinder head, the o-rings and the shell. The trade-off is real: under a heavy spring a polycarbonate rack will strip before a steel one, which is why full steel teeth exist. That steel option instead moves the failure point to the sector gear. Whichever you run, check where the sector gear catches the rack before you close the shell — angle of engagement is what actually protects a piston.
