You're running an outdoor field and the sun is on your neck, dust is in your teeth, and a stray BB just tagged your jaw. The shemagh solves all three at once.
What it is. A 44-inch square of 100% cotton, folded to a triangle and wrapped around head and face. OD green and black checker pattern. Weighs 6 oz, so it doesn't add anything noticeable to your kit.
How you wear it. There's no single right way. Wrap it as a head cover with the face open for sun protection. Pull the lower corner up to cover your nose and mouth when dust is kicking up. Wrap it low around the neck as a gaiter. You can secure it under a helmet or patrol cap, or just tie it. The cotton is soft enough to wrap tight without chafing.
On the field. It stops or slows BBs at typical skirmish distances — enough to turn a direct hit into a dull thud instead of a bruise. It also catches the rosin and dirt that builds up on your face during a game, and keeps sunburn off the back of your neck. When it's wet from rain or sweat, the cotton breathes but holds water, so it gets heavier over time.
What it's not. It's not a ballistic face shield or a paintball mask. Don't rely on it alone for eye protection. And cotton isn't the fastest-drying material — if you're running hot and humid fields all day, it'll soak up moisture.
Comes with nothing but the shemagh itself. No ties, no clips, no pouch.
