SHS's aluminum piston head replaces the stock plastic unit in most AEG pistons. Plastic piston heads deform slowly under the deceleration force of every shot, which spoils the O-ring seal over time. Metal holds its dimensions, so the seal stays consistent and the compression you set stays set. Check and lubricate the O-ring on fitting, and verify angle of engagement afterwards, since a change in piston head length moves where the sector gear catches the rack.
