SHS's Imported Aerial Aluminum Piston Head is an aluminum replacement piston head for most airsoft AEG pistons. Its ported design lets air move through channels as the piston is drawn back, so the piston isn't pulling against a partial vacuum on the return — less resistance and a slightly faster cycle. On the forward stroke the ports close under pressure and the head seals. Aluminum is a step up from the moulded plastic heads that come fitted as standard, since the head takes the full impact of the piston stopping at the end of every stroke. Because swapping a piston head changes the length of the assembly, check the angle of engagement after fitting and correct it with a pad if needed, rather than assuming the change is like for like.
