If you've ever dropped a Hi-Capa magazine and cracked the base plate, you know the frustration. The stock plastic bases on many 5.1 Hi-Capa mags are thin and prone to splitting after a few drops. The 5KU Base Cover is a direct replacement that swaps that fragile plastic for machined aluminum, and it stays put when you need it to.

What it does. This is a drop-in base plate for 5.1 Hi-Capa magazines (Type 5 pattern). It bolts on the same way the original does, and it adds a layer of aluminum that takes the impact when you set the mag down hard or drop it on concrete. It also gives you a bit more grip when pulling the mag from a tight pouch.

Material and fit. Machined aluminum in silver. The weight is negligible at 0.02 lbs, so you won't notice it on the mag. The fit is specific to 5.1 Hi-Capa pattern magazines — it will not work on AK mags, M4 mags, or other pistol platforms.

Why it matters. A cracked base lets rounds fall out during a game, and replacing an entire mag just because the base broke is wasteful. This is the cheaper fix. It also makes your mags easier to spot in a pouch if you're running multiple colors — the silver finish stands out against black polymer bodies.
