Cytac R-Defender Hard Shell Holster Gen 3 for 1911, Black

The Cytac R-Defender Gen3 is for the 1911 shooter who needs secure carry without the bulk of a full-size holster. It's built for Colt 1911 models with 3-inch barrels and similar variants, which means it fits the compact and commander-length frames that actually work in a waistband setup.

Hard shell versus soft carry. This uses military-grade polymer rather than leather or nylon. The rigid shell locks the pistol in place and fully covers the trigger guard, so nothing can press the trigger while drawn or while holstered. It also protects the gun's finish from belt abrasion and pocket lint. The trade-off is that it adds a bit of bulk compared to a simple friction sleeve, but that's the point—you're not losing the gun when you draw, and you're not gaining a negligent discharge.

What fits. The spec calls out the Colt 1911 with a 3-inch barrel. That's the compact length, not the full 5-inch Government model. If your 1911 has a longer barrel or a different slide profile, this may not seat right. 1911s vary more than modern striker pistols, so when in doubt, measure your barrel length and compare it to the listed compatibility.

What's in the box. Just the holster. No belt clips, no mounting hardware, no spare retention screws. You'll need to check whether your belt width matches the mounting system and whether you want inside-the-waistband or outside-carry positioning. Cytac holsters typically ship with the basic mounting hardware for standard belts, but verify before you assume.

Includes the Cytac warranty and standard packaging.
