Shotgun play is expensive because spring shotguns demand a pump for every shot, and gas shotguns that aren't CO2 leak performance as the temperature drops. The M8870 sidesteps both problems by running on 12-gram CO2 cartridges and offering a selector for 3-shot or 6-shot bursts out of each shell. You get the pump-action feel, the recoil, the shotgun spread — without the arm fatigue or the cold-weather gas bleed.
How the shell works. Each removable shell is a 30-round magazine shaped like a shotgun shell. Load it into the mag tube, and a selector on top chooses between a tight 3-shot cluster and a wider 6-shot spread. Every pump action chambers the next shell. The 3-shot mode is for controlled pushes; the 6-shot is for close-quarters aggression. Empty one shell before reloading, which means a 30-round magazine cycle either way — same capacity, just delivered in different patterns.
Velocity you can actually play with. Rated 260–300 FPS on 0.20g BBs. That puts it squarely in CQB territory and well below most indoor caps of 350. You won't be challenged on range, but you also won't be calling bang kills at 20 feet. This is a tight-space gun. If you want to trade shots at 100 feet across an outdoor field, run to a spring shotgun or a DMR instead.
Ghost ring iron sights. Not a bead, not cheap stamped rings. Ghost irons let you align the front post inside the rear circle quickly, and they're genuinely useful on something with shotgun spread where traditional iron alignment would be pointless. You can mount optics on the top rail if you want, but the ghost rings are good enough to run stock.
What's built. Metal receiver, outer barrel, magazine tube, top rail, and forend give this gun its 4-pound weight and realistic feel. That's a lot of metal for a CO2 shotgun — most competitors use polymer on the receiver and forend to keep weight down. If you want a full-metal shotgun experience, this is the one.
The bundle has everything. The package includes the gun, shotgun shells, CO2 cartridges, a bag of BBs, and the manual. You don't need to hunt for gas or BBs before your first game. Battery and charger aren't relevant here — this is gas only. What you'll want to buy is extra CO2 cartridges and spare shells; shotgun play eats through both faster than most players expect.
Includes federally mandated blaze orange muzzle tip.
