Lancer Tactical FAST PJ Tactical Helmet, Black

The FAST helmet platform is built around a simple trade-off: how much impact protection can you get without blocking your peripheral vision, your headset, or your ability to look through night vision. The PJ (Platform Junior) version is the slightly smaller shell, intended for narrower heads or players who find the full-size shell too wide — it carries the same modular frame without the extra weight.

Where the protection goes. It covers the high-impact zones: the forehead, the crown, and the sides over the temples and ears. The open design leaves the back of the head exposed, which is why it sits between a pure ball cap and a full enclosures helmet. You're not getting armor-grade protection, but you're protecting the parts that matter if you take a tumble or an unexpected BB to the side of the head.

Modularity is the point. The cut flares out at the sides to give you dual PVS-15-style rails, so you can mount NVG shrouds, lights, or cameras without relying on adapters. There's a front arc rail as well — good for a front-mount setup if you prefer your NVGs forward of center. The mounting is Picatinny-style, so most standard clamps and shrouds fit. If you play night games or run a camera, that's real utility rather than a nice-to-have.

Comfort and fit. Internal removable foam padding lines the shell, and the padding is removable for washing — something that matters more than you'd think after three games in a row. An adjustable chin strap with a quick-release buckle keeps it from shifting when you're moving fast, dropping, or crawling. The velcro panels on the front and sides are there for team patches, name tags, or other identification. Lancer's panels are functional; they're not just plastic stickers that peel off after one game.

Ventilation. There are ventilation holes through the shell, which helps with heat buildup during long sessions in summer conditions or heavy kit. It won't make you ice-cool, but it's better than nothing and better than a sealed shell.

What to expect. It's lightweight polymer, so it doesn't weigh your head down. The trade-off is that it's not rated for anything harder than airsoft BBs — which it's designed for, but don't expect it to save you from a fall onto concrete the way a real military helmet might. Fit can vary between head shapes; the adjustable sizing helps, but if your head runs on the wider side, the full-size FAST might be the better call.
