Combat shirts have a reputation for being expensive and finicky. The Gen4 from Lancer Tactical is their attempt to make the format affordable and actually comfortable under gear. It splits the shirt into two zones: a stretch-knit torso that sits under your plate carrier, and heavier ripstop sleeves that take the wear.
The torso. It's a 93% cotton, 7% spandex blend, which makes it soft against the skin and genuinely stretchy. That spandex is what matters on the field — the shirt moves with you when you reach, drop, and shoulder the gun, and it doesn't bunch up under a carrier the way a stiff cotton shirt does. You can run it with or without plates. Without them it's a regular t-shirt fit; with them it stays smooth where it counts.
The sleeves. 50/50 cotton-polyester ripstop, which is the workhorse fabric for field gear — tough, quick to dry, and cheap to replace when it tears. Upper sleeve pockets give you zippered and flap-access storage, and there's Velcro on both arms for rank tapes or unit patches. YKK zippers on the pockets and wrist cuffs are the hardware you want; it's the small thing that keeps a piece of kit from falling apart at the first hard use. The 1/3 zip collar lets you open it up for ventilation between games.
Elbow pads. Removable EVA pads snap in on the inside of each sleeve. They're not armour — think of them as a scratch buffer against concrete barriers, chain link, and the ground when you're working a tight CQB lane. The point of the Gen4 shirt is that you get some protection without buying a separate pad and strapping it on.
What it is. A stretch-combat shirt at an approachable price. If you play a lot of indoor or close-range games and want something that doesn't fight you under a plate carrier or chest rig, this is the kind of shirt you grab without thinking. If you want a full ripstop shirt for rough outdoor play, you might want to run a dedicated field shirt instead.
Sizing. You're ordering the XXL shown here. This model runs close to the spec — order your usual size unless you want it baggy under a carrier, in which case size up one.
