Combat shirts are supposed to solve a simple problem: stay cool and flexible under armor while not riding up the second you raise your arms. Most of them don't actually solve it. The Lancer Tactical Gen4 gets closer than most.
The trick is in the fabric split. The torso is a 93% cotton, 7% spandex blend that stretches with you instead of bunching under plate carriers and chest rigs. Cotton against skin is breathable in a way polyester just isn't, and the spandex keeps it from sagging or riding up when you're moving. The sleeves switch to a 50/50 cotton-poly blend, which takes the abrasion when you're crawling, leaning, or working on the ground.
Pockets on the sleeves and torso give you somewhere to put things. Adjustable wrist cuffs keep debris out and let you roll the sleeves up when you need to.
Removable elbow pads come in the box. They stay in place while you're running and you can pull them out when you don't want the padding. Functional, if not spectacular.
The stretch torso is where this shirt earns its keep. Plate carriers pinch and ride on stiff fabric. A stretch body moves with your body, which means the carrier doesn't hike up every time you raise your rifle. If you run a vest or carrier, this is a meaningful difference.
The fit runs slightly large — check the size chart and size down if you want a more fitted look. The shirt works on its own for casual play, but it's built to live under gear. The comfort factor means you'll still be wearing it in your third game of the day.
Includes shirt and elbow pads. Wash in cold water and hang dry to keep the fabric in good shape.
