The stock Hi-Capa frame is polymer and designed to break after a few thousand rounds. That's intentional for a factory pistol, but if you're running this as a primary at matches, you want something that won't give up mid-match. The Atlas Custom Works 2011 Type 1 frame is the replacement that doesn't have that expiration date.
What you're getting. This is a full CNC-machined 7075 aluminum frame in 185mm overall length, weighing 140g. That's the alloy aircraft manufacturers use—stronger than the cast aluminum on cheaper frames, and lighter than steel. You're not just buying a frame; you're buying the metal that survives repeated disassembly and field stripping.
What's in the box. The frame comes with a stainless steel sear, valve knocker, and pin set. Those are the internal components that actually interact with the slide and hammer during firing, and stainless steel is the right choice here—it resists the wear that softens factory parts over time. You're not getting a complete pistol. You're getting the core of one, and the parts you need to build around it.
Compatibility. This fits Tokyo Marui-spec Hi-Capa platforms and M1911 gas blowback pistols. If your pistol is a TM clone or a PTS Hi-Capa, it'll work. If you're running a different platform entirely, it won't. The 185mm length is the standard Hi-Capa size.
Before you buy. This is a frame swap, not a drop-in upgrade. You'll need to transfer your internals from your existing pistol, and that work should be done by someone who knows Hi-Capa disassembly. Atlas recommends a certified technician for the install, and that's not just liability language—messing up the sear engagement or pin alignment can make the pistol unsafe. If you've never taken a Hi-Capa apart, budget for a gunsmith visit.
Black finish is bare aluminum anodized, not a coating that'll wear off.
