The AAP-01 is a fine pistol. It has realistic blowback, a metal slide, and Action Army's gas system does well with green gas. But a pistol, no matter how good, is still a pistol. If you want something with an extended sight radius, room for accessories, and a buffer tube for a stock, the natural move is to buy a separate carbine. This kit makes the pistol into the carbine.

What it is. The Atlas Custom Works AAP-01 Carbine Kit Type B is a direct conversion for Action Army AAP-01 Series pistols. You replace the pistol's slide with the kit's barrel assembly, and the pistol's frame becomes the handguard and buffer tube. The result is a compact gas blowback carbine that runs on the same green-gas blowback system the pistol already used. No batteries, no AEG internals — same gun, just longer.

Build quality. The entire assembly is CNC 7075 aluminum, which is the sort of material you want on something that carries the structural load of a primary weapon. It's not a polymer filler or a zinc casting. The 14mm CCW threaded muzzle accepts standard airsoft attachments, and the top Picatinny rail along the handguard gives you room for sights or a red dot. There's also an AEG barrel nut spec rail, which is the same geometry standard used by G&G's ARMG and similar platforms — worth noting if you already have accessories cut for that pattern.

Hop-up. This kit uses top adjustment, which is a meaningful step up from the side-mounted unit on the AAP-01 pistol. You turn a dial on the barrel shroud instead of reaching under the slide with a hex key mid-game, and the setting tends to hold its mark shot to shot because you're not pushing down on the slide to make the adjustment.

What you get. One carbine kit — the Type B barrel assembly with integrated handguard and buffer tube. The pistol's slide and frame are your existing hardware. No gas, no magazines (the converted carbine still feeds from the AAP-01 magazine), and no battery because this is gas-powered, not electric.

Before you buy. This kit fits Action Army AAP-01 Series pistols only — standard AAP-01, AAP-01M, and likely their derivatives, but check your model. The fit is direct, so no machining or modding is required, but as with any conversion, proper installation matters. If you're not comfortable swapping slides and buffer tubes, a tech shop should handle it. The Type B is finished black.
