What do you do when a pistol works great in the house but feels unstable on an open field? You convert it. The Atlas Custom Works AAP-01 Carbine Kit takes the Action Army AAP-01 pistol and gives it a proper carbine body — a full-length upper, a buttpad, and a handguard you can actually grip without wrapping your support hand around the barrel.
How it fits together. The kit replaces the AAP-01's stock buffer and adds an upper receiver paired with a handguard. The pistol slides into the new body and locks in place through the existing mount point — no drilling, no custom parts. The M4-style top rail runs the full length of the upper so you can mount optics without removing the iron sights. The buffer tube accepts standard stick packs if you want to run an accessory like a laser or light from the stock.
Hop-up. The AAP-01 pistol adjusts hop from the bottom of the barrel, which means you're reaching under the slide between games. This kit moves the adjustment to the top of the barrel, where a hex key does the job from a standing position — an improvement that matters when you're on a field.
Muzzle. The handguard carries an M4 rail on top and slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, so accessories are universal rather than platform-specific. That's a real advantage over pistol rigs that tie you to whatever the manufacturer makes.
Build. It's CNC 7075 aluminum throughout. The buffer tube is solid, the rail is flat, and the fit is snug enough that the whole rig doesn't flex when you're shouldering it. It adds up, but the AAP-01 isn't a featherweight pistol to start with, so the trade makes sense.
What you need. Gas, obviously. The pistol still does the feeding and cycling. The kit doesn't include a battery — but since the gun is gas-powered, you won't need one for the pistol itself. The buffer tube can accommodate a stick pack for powering accessories if you wire it in. Check your pistol's housing before you buy.
What it isn't. This is a field conversion for a GBB pistol, not a dedicated AEG build. It won't match the rate of fire or consistency of a purpose-built carbine, and it's not going to replace a primary if you run a full AEG rig. But for players who want one gun that works as a compact sidearm at the start of a game and a proper carbine once the field opens up, it's one of the cleanest solutions around.
Includes the Atlas Custom Works AAP-01 Carbine Kit (Type B) only. Gas, battery, and charger are not included.
