Atlas Custom Works AAP-01 Carbine Kit Type C, Black

The AAP-01 is one of those pistols that earns a loyal following for its compact size and realistic weight, but it's undeniably a pistol — no stock, no forend, and a very short grip. This kit solves that problem without replacing the gun.

What it is. The Atlas Custom Works Type C is a CNC 7075 aluminum conversion kit that mates to the Action Army AAP-01's proprietary top rail and takes the place of the stock. It adds a full handguard with a top Picatinny rail running the length of the forend and a buttpad stock that sits flush against your shoulder. The pistol's grip, trigger, and gas system remain exactly as they are — you're adding a carbine frame to a pistol platform.

Type C means stock. The AAP-01 carbine kits come in a few flavors. Type A is handguard only, no buttpad. Type C adds the buttpad and gives you something solid to plant your shoulder against. Type B has a different rail layout. Make sure you're getting the one that matches your intent — the buttpad makes a noticeable difference in stability when you're actually shooting from the shoulder rather than just holding it there.

What you get. The handguard is milled from a single block of 7075 aluminum with a full-length Picatinny rail on top and a barrel nut at the front. Everything is black, the same color as the pistol it mates to.

The trade-offs. The handguard runs hot after extended gas blows, which is true of any GBB handguard and more so here since the gas system runs through the same area as the barrel. Wear gloves if you run it hard. The buttpad won't accommodate a fat battery pocket — the AAP-01 uses a small side gas/magazine unit, so stick capacity is limited by the pistol's original design, not the kit. If you're running this for a milsim event where you need to hold a lot of gas between reloads, know that it's still an AAP-01 underneath.

Who it's for. Players who want one gun that can fold into a holster and deploy to carbine length in under ten seconds. Good for CQB where compactness matters early in a round but you want the stability of a stock when you're in the open. Not a long-range platform — the AAP-01's gas efficiency and barrel length don't make it a distance gun, even with this kit attached.

Fit note. This kit is designed for the Action Army AAP-01 and AAP-02 pistols. Fit is generally excellent on factory Action Army guns; aftermarket variations in the rail profile or rear catch area can introduce play. If you're running a non-Action Army frame, check with the vendor about compatibility before you mount it.
